Horizontal Line Tag

The
(horizontal rule) tag draws a horizontal line across the page. It represents a thematic break: a change of topic within a page.

Syntax:

Chapter 1

The story begins in Lahore...

Chapter 2

Ten years later...

is an empty tag: it has no content and no closing tag.

Styling the line

Old HTML used attributes like size and color on
. Those are outdated; use CSS instead.

hr {
 border: none;
 border-top: 2px dashed #1c6fa8;
 margin: 32px 0;
}
