Introduction
How Git Works
Git moves your changes through three areas:
| Area | What it is | Command to move forward |
|---|---|---|
| Working directory | The files you are editing right now | git add |
| Staging area | Changes you've chosen for the next commit | git commit |
| Repository | The saved history of commits | git push (to GitHub) |
The staging area is what makes Git flexible: you can edit ten files but commit only the three that belong together.
